ORL Season 8 Week 1-2 Newsletter
Hello guys and welcome to the first newsletter of the new ORL Season. We're now 2 weeks into the season and have already seen a wide variety of twists and turns across all 10 divisions on Halo 4 and GTA V. Sorry for the absence of GTA recaps, but neither Hunter nor myself are in any GTA series. We will see what we can do when it comes to writing the next newsletter.
Arenacross
The ORL debut of Arenacross took place at Little Rock AX. Even though there were a few wrecks and the track played out less competitive than prior thought, it still was an intense race in both motos. Sodapop Remix took the win in the 1st moto and xTheSully took the win in the 2nd moto. However, because of a Major Intentional Wreck on Pancake , Sully was docked two points so technically Soda took the win for the 2nd moto as well. The overall finish was Soda, Pancake, and Sully rounding out the top 3. Week 2 saw PANCAKEMUFFIN on the top step of the podium with a win at Afton Canyon. With the win he ties Sodapop in the standings. Sully however, with a third place at Afton Canyon, also ties them for the division lead because of a 3 point bonus for being part of the leading team, the Devil's Rejects. Next week at Box Hill AX should bring some more excitement, and possibly a new winner. Look for Jabbleston, NukedLceCream, and Offrce to possibly get their first podiums. Written by Offrce
Mayhem Wrecktacular
The most relaxed and essentially least competitive division on Halo 4 has produced some great racing so far and some equally entertaining battles as wrecks, crashes and flips have occurred all across the tracks. Both Bug Catcher Bean and HunterUnit751, have managed to pick up one win each; Bean on Leviathan, and Hunter on [VERIFYING...]. However currently they are being beaten by TheOffice1808, who is also the current points leader, Miss StarStrukk, @xnjd1x, I KC KONGO I and Unrealiztic who have all been in both races so far, whilst Bean and Hunter have both featured in only one. The 2nd Race on [VERIFYING...] proved too be the stand-out race out of the two so far, with the lead continuing to change across the race, before HunterUnit managed to sneak it though both H3R0 365 and Miss Starstrukk finished just a few seconds behind. Although there's not much to play for in, it will still prove to be a very entertaining division throughout the rest of the season. Written by HunterUnit751
Rallycross
This smoove-styled, short-cut taking division has got off to an equally flying start, with the competition proving to be as equally competitive as Grand Prix. There's nothing to separate the leaders currently as H3R0 365 and xNJD1x have both picked up one win each and both finished 2nd in their other race. BxA Real Deal D was looking to be in a strong position after the 1st race on Nightfall RX before his shock decision to retire earlier this week, whilst TheOffice1808, DaManDante and I KC Kongo I are among the drivers closest to catching the leaders. The 1st race of the season on Nightfall produced some solid performances from the likes of xNJD1x, TheOffice1808 and AdamMc66, but my driver of the race was Real Deal who had to work from the back of the pack in the main event following a problem with Star's controller at the start of the race, causing Real Deal and C4M3R0N B3CK to both crash into the back of her, before using his jokers very effectively to finish the race in third place. In reality though this division, like GP, still has much more to offer and will certainly produce more changes before we find a clear front-runner to win the division this season. Mixed Terrain
The Mixed Terrain division started the season out with a bang in a very exciting race at Patante-Chose. Veteran NJD beat out Sodapop and Pancake, arguably the two best drivers in Halo, for the gold medal. In Week 2 heats were required again at Oreo MT, but Sodapop dropped out before the LCQ, so everyone else that showed up went straight to the Main Event. This opened the door for NJD and Pancake to capitalize on Soda’s absence. In an exciting but inconsistent race, Pancake took the win, NJD took 2nd, and Hero took 3rd place. This brings Pancake within 1 point of NJD in the standings. Team Evolution however has taken an early but slim lead (only 4 points ahead of the Devil's Rejects) in the Team Standings. This 3 point bonus helps t3hmightymidg3t pass up Hero and snag that 3rd place spot in the standings. Other drivers to watch out for in this division are Office, Bean, Goldliner 49ner, and of course Season 4 MT Champ, KC Kongo. Written by Offrce
Rally Car
Even though only 5 drivers showed up to Week 1 of Rally Car, that didn't stop Bean from racing his hardest. Bean finished in bronze position after the first stage behind Nuked and Star respectively. If Bean wanted to win the overall, he would need to, as Chris Smoove would say, "Turn on the jets!" And that is exactly what Bean did. He won the next two stages and beat out Nuked for the overall by 0.38 seconds. Just shows how precious time can be in Rally Car. Things got a bit more interesting with 7 people showing up in Week 2. Office took a dominating win in his season debut with two stage wins and beating Nuked by more than 3.5 seconds. Nuked took 2nd and Star took 3rd place again just like Week 1. Nuked and Star have opened up a lead in the standings with the help of their 3 point bonus as part of being on Flawless Victory. This should be a good battle all season long between Bean, Office, Nuked, and Star. It should be close in the back of the pack as well, as there are plenty of speedy terrain drivers in this series with similar skill levels. Written by Offrce
Grand Prix
The new season looked to be one full of expectation and promise for all GP drivers, especially following GP pro Gogetarulez announcing his retirement, allowing the division to hopefully become even more competitive as drivers battle it out too see who will take Gogeta's place at the front of the pack. So far Miss Starstrukk and xNJD1x have picked up one win each and look like the drivers too beat, but with close competition from the likes of HunterUnit751, TheOffice1808, nak3dbac0n14, DaManDante and Unrealiztic among others, it's still too close to call at this early stage. The team to beat currently is Evolution, who with drivers C4M3R0N B3CK, Bean05, Miss Starstrukk and NukedlceCream, picked up a 1:2:4:5 finish in the 1st race of the season on O'Doyle Reverse, but the other teams, which include Red Dragon Racing and Rejects, managed to close the gap a little on Providence Reverse after 2 of the 3 Evolution drivers racing didn't make the main, which leaves the team championship as equally interesting and competitive.
