Week 6 - 7 ORL Newsletter
Hey everyone, welcome to the Octane Racing League Bi-Monthly Newsletter where we discuss what is going on in the Octane Racing League! Last month, we got kidnapped by terrorists, but we are here now and ready to report on everything that is going on in the ORL up to week 6!
This season has seen an expansion of the number of race series to 9, and as a result we have had a lot more racing action with everyone’s racing determination and skill being tested!
Division & Race Summaries
The Primary Division’s have been fast and competitive so far, with lots of fast racing and controversial action. In GP, Gogetarulez has continued his winning ways from Season 6 by winning 4 out of the 6 races so far, and yet again looks a sure bet to win the series. However, DaManDante and Unrealiztic have both been able to stop gogetarulez from getting a clean sweep this season, with a race win each, and with racers like @xnjd1x, ITZz RhYSs X98, C4M3R0N B3CK, HunterUnit751, Bug Catcher Bean, AdamMc66, PixelGamingHD #ComebackIsReal, xDOMdaBOMx, AlexJ189, TG Unggoy, and B2T Kambi all receiving good results, there is sure to be some great races in the future of GP with everyone hungry to knock the Flying Dutchman off his top spot!
In Motocross, it seems to be a two horse race between Sodapop Remix and Pancake for the title, with 3 wins apiece for each driver and no other drivers except for Casselfied, H3R0 365, and xTheSully getting anywhere close to them. With both drivers finishing 1st and 2nd in each race except he ones that one missed of course, it is bound to be a close finish between these two talented drivers!
In Mixed Terrain like Motocross, it seems to also be a two horse race between standbyluke7 and Offrce for the title, however other fast drivers such as Kung Pao Lynx, I KC KONGO I, BxA Real Deal D, NukedLceCream, Justice618, and King Edward I all seem to be challenging hard for that 3rd spot and it will lead to some great racing to see who will end up winning and coming 3rd in MT.
Rallycross has been one of the most popular divisions so far this season, and has lead to great, although short racing action, with 10 lap mains forcing drivers to drive carefully as one slip up could send race favourites to the back of the field in an instant. There seems to be a three way battle between xNJD1x, I KC Kongo I, and Unrealiztic for the top spots with TheOffice1808, C4M3R0N B3CK, HunterUnit751, BxA Real Deal D and newcomer AlexJ189 on their heels chasing down the podium spots. Former race winners such as xDOMdaBOMx, UnknownRacing32 and H3R0 365 have struggled so far this season, and shows the increase in competition and the driver skill required to do well in this competitive division.
Mayhem Wrecktacular has returned, with the no rules racing leading to some of the best crashes and take outs of the season. King Edward I, H3R0 365. and NukedIceCream all have 2 wins apiece, but drivers such as I KC KONGO I, Kung Pao Lynx, and TheBlackPlasma have been consistently good throughout the season, and has lead to a 6 driver battle for the championship.
Rally Car debuted this season, and has lead to some great off road terrain racing, and leading to some tense and exciting racing, where one crash can ruin your entire race. GP leader gogetarulez also leads Rally Car however BxA Real Deal D is right on his tail and with a set of good results. Dirty Racing League drivers AlexJ189, NukedIceCream, and Bug Catcher Bean are doing well in their first season in the ORL, along with Unrealiztic and AdamMc66 who are also right up their gunning for a podium spot.
Onto the Tertiary Divisions now, Halo Reach racing was back after a 3 season absence, and has managed to rekindle some of the magic experienced in the first few seasons of the ORL on Reach. The standings are very close at the top, with a 6 way battle between series leader Pancake, I KC KONGO I, Kung Pao Lynx, xNJD1x, xSODAPOP 13x, and Unrealiztic for the Championship.
And finally, GTA Racing debuted this season and has been the most popular division out of them all, with a record 24 drivers having raced in the series. The racing in GTA has been highly competitive, with weather and time settings adding a unique element and test of driver skill to the racing action. Casselfied and xDOMdaBOMx are battling it out for the series lead, with race winners gogetarulez and orvski closing in and new drivers such as frydiggity1, xJAMESx 2010, Blackheim IV, Bad Fox89, Meyer2125 and xSGTx McMuffin also posting some great results in the series. GTA has lead to some great racing action, and hopefully this can continue until the end of the season and lead to some more unpredictable and exciting action.
Predictions and Shout outs
ORL Journalists Week 7 Season Predictions:
GP: The Track will be on Hobgoblin V2, a new track for this season and as a result past experience goes out the Window! We go for Gogetarulez, C4M3R0N B3CK, @xnjd1x
MT: MT are racing on Aurelian, so we are going for standbyluke7, Kung Pao Lynx, Offrce
MX: The Motocross map for this week is also on Aurelian like MT, and we are backing last week’s race winner Sodapop Remix to get the win again, beating Casselfied who finishes 2nd and with H3R0 365 coming 3rd.
RX: The Rallycross racers will be at Providence, which was two weeks ago GP track. On that note, @xnjd1x seems to be the favourite for victory, with Unrealiztic 2nd and BxA Real Deal D a potential 3rd.
RC: The Rally Car drivers will be racing on DRL host Miss Starstrukk’s maps, and as such we are going to back the DRL drivers Bug Catcher Bean and AlexJ189 to get 1 and 2, with Championship leader Gogetarulez sneaking the 3rd spot.
MW: [VERIFYING...] will be the track for this week’s MW race, inevitably leading to some crazy action and takeouts. We are backing an King Edward I, B2T Kambi and I KC KONGO I finish.
Reach: Halo Reach drivers will be racing an old classic in the form of Longshore Stadium, where we are going for Sodapop Remix and Offrce, Unrealiztic for the podium.
GTA: And Finally, the GTA drivers will be racing on Del Perro Raceway by orvski. We are backing on-form orvski to get another race win, with xDOMdaBOMx to get 2nd and Casselfied to get 3rd, with a cheeky bet of Gogetarulez finishing outside the top 5!
Shout outs to Drivers
Just a quick shout out to ma girl ImmergingSnake8, who has stopped racing due to picking up new job and will be missed greatly by the ORL Community.
Also congratulations to Bug Catcher Bean who has been the best overall rookie driver of the season so far, and also congratulations to NukedIceCream, orvski, AlexJ189 and Justice618, PixelGamingHD, Meyer2125, xJAMESx 2010, frydiggity1, Jabbleston, Mr CocaCola 2U, and xSGTx McMuffin for also getting good results in their first full season at the ORL.
Sadly this season, we had to say goodbye to several former classic drivers, including Darkstar o72 (1st owner), Elpmet, and XreignZ (2nd owner) who will all be missed by the ORL community.
Best Races of the week goes to Didiersachsenring by orvski on GTA, Weeber GP by Unrealiztic & xDOMdaBOMx in Grand Prix, and Mufasa Raceway by Armada223 in Mixed Terrain, all leading to some outstanding racing action.
